“We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect" - Anais Nin

I love this quote. I think it captures perfectly the essence of journalling. I think journaling is a great way to process the information we are constantly receiving and taking in every day. It is a tool that is used to organize our thoughts and understand each moment of our lives. It allows us to be more present as our chaotic mess is organized neatly in letters on a page.

However, it is also a way to look back, to take a glimpse of the past and remember it for what it truly was. It allows us to take a screenshot of every moment, every feeling and put it into words that we can experience again as feelings. We get to taste the sweetness of life twice. We get to experience a smile widening on our faces as we read back on all the good times we had.

But we can also look back and see the hard times. The rough times where we didn’t know what was coming next, and we weren't sure if we would make it. We get to look back and see how much we have grown, how much we have overcome, and how much more we can handle. We get to see the faithfulness and goodness of our awesome God throughout the history of our lives and experience His grace all over again as we turn each page.

So write down your life so that you can be present in the moment, remember the past, and see hope in the future. Write it down in a journal that will change the lives of women rescued from human trafficking. Write down your redemption story, as you create a story of freedom and hope for women and children in need.
